140th SSJ Foundation Day
January 10, 2014

Today, January 10, we, the Siervas de San Jose, together with the Lay Josephines and our collaborators, celebrate the 140th Foundation Day of our congregation. Our Founders, Fr. Francisco Butiña, SJ and St. Bonifacia Rodriguez responded to the call of God to evangelize and develop the poor working world, especially women at risk. We continue to be inspired and challenged to live their legacy to spread the Good News of work to the society, making possible our encounter with God in the ordinary events of life as experienced by Jesus who prayed and worked in Nazareth together with Mary and Joseph.

This significant event becomes memorable as we commemorate it with our sisters here in the Correctional Institute for Women where we share hopes and dreams and nourish our body and spirit with the Bread of life.

In this joyful season of Christmas, let us proclaim our thanksgiving to God for all the blessings of goodness and love lavished on us, especially for giving us Jesus Who chose to live among us to bring new life and new hope to everyone.

One of the activities was the visit to the City Jail. The reflection sharing of the experience took place in the Novitiate and it was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Afterwhich, the meal consisting of Congee, boiled eggs, siopao and some fruits was served.
