PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS St. Joseph’s Conference Room
SSJ Provincial House, Quezon City
April 21, 2013, 2:30 to 6:00 PM

The Third Sunday of Easter is popularly known as both Good Shepherd Sunday and World Day of Prayer for Vocations.  For the Siervas de San Jose, this year’s celebration consisted of a Holy Hour, a table fellowship and a film viewing of Brother Sun and Sister Moon.

The participants numbering about 40, came from different groups, such as Church workers and leaders, Women’s Association, college students, the Life Direction Session 2 participants, young adult workers, and religious sisters, including the Siervas de San Jose and their young formands.   The Holy Hour was solemn and led to a deeper encounter with Jesus, the Good Shepherd, in the exposed Blessed Sacrament.   The sharing of some, which followed soon after, was enriching and confirmed the insights and feelings of those present.

A simple but filling merienda was served in the SSJ Dining Room, a space that created bonds of friendship and unity among the participants.  The last activity, a viewing of Brother Sun and Sister Moon featuring the life and mission of St. Francis of Assisi, after whom the newly elected Pope got his papal name, is a timely and apt invitation to a change of heart and mind towards simplicity, humility, concern and respect  for others and oneself, and for all creation.

May the Lord of the Harvest, the Good Shepherd Himself, give success to the work of our hands!  To Him be the glory!
